Name: Askari (Ari)
Askari's full name was once just 'Ari', but during his journey underground for the Council's message, they changed his name to 'Askari' meaning keeper, to give him strength for his journey back and as a remembrance for him of his quest. For more info on his journey underground, read 'Brief History' below. Although he is grateful of the Council's gift to him, Askari still likes being called 'Ari' for short (Askari), having been so used to it being his full name. Sometimes, he supposes his full name would be 'Askari Ari', meaning dedicated keeper, but this is only a suggestion.
Name meaning: keeper
Age: 3 cycles
Tribe: Crowded Water
Shell Anklet: A cloth anklet with beautiful mother of pearl rainbow seashells adorning the laces on Ari's right front paw. It was given as a gift to him by his good young friend, Uchafu, so that he could remember her when they couldn't see each other. The seashells were from the beach they went to one day, one of the best days they spent together. This anklet is very special to Ari, as it provided comfort to him during his dark days underground to seek the Council of Keepers. It always made him think of Uchafu and their friendship.
Leaf Wrap: A leaf wrap wrapped around Ari's left hind leg. When he had fallen into the hole at the beginning of his journey, Ari had badly broken his leg and Enzi was unable to heal it without any herbs. During his journey, Ari had to drag it around behind him as he walked, causing it to only get worse and be more painful. When he finally arrived home, his hind leg was healed, but not completely. According to the new Healer, Jatieno, he was to wear a somewhat stiff leaf wrap around his leg, just so that he wouldn't break it even more. His hind leg never truly healed, causing Ari to limp when he walks.
Personality: [Cautious] [Loyal] ['Crazy'] [Mysterious] [Confused] [Nervous] [Reserved]
[Cautious] - Since his journey to the Council, Ari is really cautious about a lot of things. He tends to think before acting, which can be seen as a good leadership trait. But, sometimes he is too wary of the littlest things, such as a herb or a piece of prey, so it can be also seen as a sign of weakness. Some could also say that's him being too fearful of things and that he's afraid of change, but after being isolated for so long, Ari just wants to be careful to watch his back. He has slight paranoia.
[Loyal] - Although his Council of Keepers have put him through a lot, Ari has never doubted them and believes that they do such things for a reason. He will be forever loyal to them, willing to do their bidding as they wish. He practically worships them and sees himself lower than themselves. Ari is also very loyal to his tribemates and would do practically anything for them as well, defending them against dangers. He always tries to make the best decision for them, even if he isn't in a good state to be making decisions.
['Crazy'] - Having been stuck underground in darkness with loud noises everywhere, Ari can sometimes act sort of 'crazy'. He mumbles to himself a lot and is seen talking to somebody invisible, who's not actually there. He can have random outbursts at times, mostly when he finds himself somewhere dark or noisy. He's slightly claustrophobic as well and does not do well in tight spaces. Ari likes to be alone a lot in his den or pacing around the clearing, mumbling to himself. He doesn't want help though and will ignore any onlookers.
[Mysterious] - Before, Ari liked to keep his emotion inside himself, as if showing any would be signs of weakness. But now, he just goes all out, not giving a care about how others view him. He can't really bottle his emotions up at this state anyways. However, Ari still does have his secrets and has gained a lot more since his quest. He won't tell anyone though and likes to drift away from others, even his own tribemates. He spends a lot of his time now on his thinking rock, near the border of Crooked Tree.
[Confused] - Ari gets quite disorientated now, not being able to tell the difference between dreams and reality. He sometimes hallucinates, seeing things that others cannot. He frequently wakes up in the middle of the night and walks out of camp, ending up very far away from the Crowded Water camp. He won't notice it until dawn breaks out and sometimes gets lost getting back home, not really knowing how he ended up there and how he got there.
[Nervous] - As said before, Ari gets very cautious about simple things. He gets paranoid and frightened about them too, like the little pitter patter of water droplets or the swishing of the tall grass in the meadows. He seems to be 'on the edge' a lot and can never really get comfortable anymore, finding it hard to sleep and relax. It makes him look quite weak, but he doesn't seem to care. Now, he doesn't really like to be around others and can get very overwhelmed with his tribemates around, becoming twitchy and unresponsive.
[Reserved] - Ever since his journey underground, Ari likes to keep quiet and stay by himself to think. He was so alone underground for so long, he finds it kind of hard to be back home with all these cheetahs around again. He's not used to be surrounded by his own kind again and likes to not be the center of attention.
